The X-Men Movie

Out of the many villains in the X-men movies William Stryker is the only one to have his origin story rebooted from his comic origins. God loves man kills tells the story of a religious conservative figure—a televangelist by the name of reverend William Stryker—who shrewdly uses fundamentalist biblical interpretations and impressive skills of rhetoric to rally the public against the specter of mutant kind.

A noteworthy element here is that stryker wholeheartedly believes that mutants are wicked that their superhuman abilities are not just dangerous but the work of the actual devil. has not the least bit disingenuous in his crusade. He feels he is morally right doing gods work. Stryker is compelled by his religious convictions to eradicate mutants for the good of the world. Stryker is shown as an insane religious preacher whose goal is to see the death of all mutants. The comic does show that he was involved in the weapon x project but that all changed when his wife gave birth to his mutant son. After killing them both he attempted to commit suicide. Proving that he is insane his mind lead him to believe that satan created mutants and his son was a sign from the lord that he had to kill them all so earth can be reborn. Stryker was the face of two roles one face posed as a popular televangelist and the other as a leader of a paramilitary unit who commits hate crimes against all mutants. Although the movies show stryker at different times of his life and military career he first makes an appearance inx2 played by actor brian cox. Stryker convinces the president to let him raid x-mansion by telling him its a mutant training facility.

During the attack he comes across logan and reveals himself as the one responsible for logans amnesia and adamantium skeleton. In the sequels they show that stryker has spent his entire career working for weapon x murdering and experimenting on mutants as a part of a personal mission to wipeout the entire mutant population. In x2 he comes up with a brilliant scheme to abduct professor x and use his powers to reach out and kill mutants around the world. One of the biggest problems in the movie is how Stryker used xavier. In both storylines he captures xavier and plans to use his telepathic powers to kill all mutants. In the comic book stryker spend hours brainwashing xavier by torturing him and using violent images. He makes xavier believe that all mutants are an abomination to the human race and that the only way to redeem himself by killing all mutants. Its pretty scary to think that this insane religious man could do such horrible things to people.

Despite all the brainwashing xavier was put through Stryker failed to convert him completely and his subconscious self stops him from actually killing anyone. In the movie stryker uses his sons illusion powers. The illusions arent even trying to chance xaviers beliefs; its just a little girl telling him to find all the mutants and focus hard enough to kill them all.
