The introduction

Yevgeny Yevtushenko as a poet

The person I want you to become familiar with is a well-known Russian poet and a novelist Yevgeny Yevtushenko. Generally, one is to keep in mind that Yevtushenko is recognized to be one of the most influential literary figures in the former USSR. In my opinion, Yevtushenko’s poems are really amazing, as they reflect the reality of life. I suppose that the poet’s philosophy is based on his desire to tell the truth. As far as honesty is considered to be one of the most beautiful traits of a person’s character, one can state that a well-known Russian poet is mostly respected for his individualism.

The body

The philosophy of one of the most respected literary figures in the former USSR

The citizens of the USA became familiar with the poet in the early sixties. The publication, which brought the poet fame, was called Babi Yar. I like all the works written by a well-known literary figure, as they are very informative. However, I would like to tell more about Yevtushenko’s worldview. Generally, it is necessary to state that the poet tried to fight with Stalinism. He depicted crime against humanity and wanted to protect people from Soviet government. This aspect could not be neglected, as my own philosophy is based on the same values. I hate injustice, and suppose that lying destroys people’s lives.

My favorite Yevtushenko’s poem is called People. What I like most is the poet’s ability to explain extremely difficult things concerning philosophical issues. On the other hand, I am also fond of Yevtushenko’s knowledge of human nature. In my opinion, the poet expresses paradoxic things with a great talent. Thus, his phrase: We who knew our fathers / in everything, in nothing taken from the previous poem, reflects what people know about their biologic race.

To be honest, I am deeply interested in the ideas Yevgeny Yevtushenko developed and believed in. I am fond of strong personalities, and I am perfectly sure that Yevtushenko was one of the most important persons in the world. Thus, his courage deserves special attention, as in times, he created his poems, all people who lived in the Soviet Union, were afraid of totalitarian policy the leader of the USSR relied on. It should be pointed out that the policy of the USSR was inhumane and cruel. Those poets, writers, novelists, etc. who did not support the political regime of the Soviet Union were subjected to repressions; however, Yevtushenko was not afraid of savage reprisal; on the contrary, he tried to fight with injustice and dreamed about successful society.

The conclusion

My “connections”

Yevtushenko’s beliefs, values, skills, and traits remind me of my own worldview. First of all, the poet’s views are based on the principles of morality. When reading his poems, it becomes obvious in what way the poet is honest, competent and forward-looking. On the other hand, Yevtushenko’s imaginative style gives me an opportunity to see his broad-minded nature.

I suppose that famous Russian poet Yevgeny Yevtushenko is one of the most influential literary figures in the world. He dared opposite the cruelest leader of the former USSR, because his beliefs remained firm.

The outlook of a prominent poet is similar to my own vision. So, for this reason, I can say that Yevgeny Yevtushenko is a poet with whom I feel a certain connection.
