Anthology of Poems – a Collection of Poems

Many anthologies beg the question of how their contents have been selected. This book is organized around influence of winter on human life. There are several poets in history whom tried to describe nature in word. Most appreciated work of poets to arrange a beautiful word and collect it together and make a precious sculpture. This anthology is a reflection of some beautiful poems on winter and give a little idea about how winter comes step by step and changes human life socially and physically. Poetics is an art of writing or writing style of poets. Every poet has their different interest and different writing style for poetry. Some of them focuses on nature, soil, soldiers, family love, different seasons and emotions. I have chosen some poems on winter with snow, belongs to a part of world where I had never seen a snow at all in my life until I came to north America. So I tried to connect my emotions to winter snow by collecting different poems from different poets.

Winter brings happiness to us. Leaves change colour from green to yellow and yellow to red and suggests that winter is coming so we should be prepared for cold. The biggest festival of year “Christmas” also comes in a winter. Poets like Linda Gregg, Robert Frost, Kenneth Patchen, Hayden Carruth, William Shakespeare, Louis Stevenson and Edward Thomas also write some poems on winter. This anthology begins with a poem about winter love. Where Linda Gregg describes how winter changes our living style, where she focused on how winter influence our life but still how everybody like it and welcomed it to their life. Robert Frost’s poem describe how nature changes with welcoming winter. Even though animals and birds are also find some warm place to keep them warm. Connection of human life with nature as well as connection of animals with this make this anthology interesting and beautiful. Good rhythm makes these poems more interesting to read. Another poem from Robert Frost which also shows nature is also do welcome the winter by several changes. Here every poem shows positive side of winter. Robert Frost shows his love towards nature in each of his poems. After moving one step forward now falling of snow and how beautiful it looks like is described here.

The first part of anthology which is focused on how winter comes and that changes human as well as animal and birds living style. Now moving to second portion where that is beautifully described time during snow fall and effects of that on our emotions. Kenneth patchen shows how snow falls and compare it with heaven. Even though in contrary poet compare it with and old king and he also added word “love” here, with showing that time is going to pass on and things which are worst right now that are going to be better. William Shakespeare has described how the wind blows in winter and how scary it sounds like when you actually hear it in quite environment. Also he talked about ugly but scary owl in his poem that how scary sounds made by owl. William Shakespeare focused on scary emotion of human during winter. The second part of anthology is focused on winter and emotion related to winter. The third part of anthology how nature works during winter time. Robert louis Stevenson described day light timing during winter. Which is significantly different in north America. Here in North America during summer day time is very long but that is significantly different during winter time, which is shown by this poem and fascinating feeling of winter with snow is also included in this poem.

The poem “snow” which is shortest poem by Edward Thomas. Edward Thomas beautifully describe the passion of child for the bird of snow, which is just and imagination of child. But that connects children with the winter season and snow. The poem “curtains” by Hayden carruth describes that how winter wind comes from northern part of country to south. Here he conveys a message that how beautiful nature is seen during thin layer of snow is everywhere. Even though he described the eating habit of people in northern countries. Winter is such a beautiful season around the year. All in all, emotions, life style, social, physical life of human and also nature itself is changed during winter which is shown with good word is excellent way to conveys message to people.
