Analysis Of The Trial On Gene Forrester In A Separate Peace

November 8, 2020 by Essay Writer

There were many differences and similarities between our trial and the trial in the book. The two trials were held on Gene Forrester. The trial that we held was for murder and the trial in the book was for the incident that happened in the tree. In the trial that we held he was found innocent and in the trial held in the book there was no verdict because Finny got angry and walked out of the room. Then he slipped on the ice outside on the sidewalk and rebroke his leg. In the trial that we held Gene Forrester was being tried the murder of Phineas. The trial that was held in the book was for what happened in the tree that day. In the book there was never a final verdict due to Finny rebreaking his leg which then later killed him. In the trial that we held the final verdict was innocent because Finny did not cause the second incident which killed Finny. Both trials were held in a classroom and not an actual court room and they both had witnesses who were used to help with the case to see if Gene Forrester was guilty for what happened to Finny. The witnesses in the trial that we held were true to the novel. There were minor differences like they could’ve done better by acting more like the characters that they were playing. Leper could’ve been softer spoken and twitchier like he was in the book. Dr. Stanpole did a good job but Quakenbush could’ve been louder and a little bit more dislikeable. They didn’t say anything that wasn’t true from the novel and they did a good job with knowing their characters. They all did what they were supposed to do and made the final verdict very easy to determine.

The final verdict of the trial that we held was not guilty. I agree with this verdict one hundred percent. I agreed with this verdict because the defense attorneys did a very good job defending their defendant. They put a lot of doubt in my mind and the main thing was when they said that Leper have a section 8 discharge which is for mental stability. So that put a lot of doubt in my mind and made me think if anything that he was saying was true or if it was made up due to his mental stability. So that is the reason that I completely agree with the verdict of Gene Forrester is not guilty. The trials had many similarities and differences. Some were better than others like the characters could’ve acted a little bit better. The characters did a very good job playing their part and only a couple of things that they could’ve improved on. The final verdict was the best verdict that could’ve been chosen because the defense attorneys did a very good job with all their evidence and with their witnesses. Overall everything went great and was very accurate with the trial that took place in the book.
