Allegory Used in Poetry

Music has been changed and evolved over the years and be influenced from poetry; music can be viewed as poetry and categorized as well. Poetry is script of rhymes and messages that can relate to people and spread messages. All of my examples are poetic devices and are the artists way of showing a message to the reader or listener to the song. Three poetic device from Lucid Dreams are metaphors, rhymes, free verses and satire.

Metaphors are used in this poem to show exaggeration to a certain topic and show the extrodinance of it. A metaphor a figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable which is stated here. In stanza 4 the artist said “ you made my heart break ” his heart is not literally breaking it is a metaphor for how sad he is. The significance of this is making a connection with the reader to show the significance of his despair.

Rhymes are used in poems to make the poem more catchy and sound more smooth. correspondence of sound between words or the endings of words, especially when these are used at the ends of lines of poetry which is stated here. In stanza 3 the artist says “ now I am better off dead, I will do it over again, i watch it blow in the wind” which is talking about sadness and a journey he has been through. The significance of this is to catch the reader’s attention and have a more soothing and flowing poem

Free verses are used in poems to make times where there are no lyrics to be less dull and also used for when rhymes are not happening. Poetry that does not rhyme or have a regular meter. In stanza 5 the artist says “ I thought you were the one Listening to my heart instead of my head” which means he thought someone was falling in love with him. The significance is that someone cares about him and loves him.

Satire is used to exaggerate something or make something more funny. Satire is the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people’s stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other issues. In stanza 5 the artist says “ I still see your shadows in my room” which is an exaggeration considering he does not actually still see “her” shadows in his room.

In conclusion, music is used to show emotions and influence people life by inspiring the audience and brightening up their day. The examples were metaphors, rhymes, free verses and satire. The overall significance is how poems and music are similar and how they give strong messages.

My poem is about Alexander Hamilton who was a self starter and a businessman and the youngest secretary who was the secretary of the treasury. He grew up with a single mom and fought for his independence. He knew that slavery was wrong but everyone else was in favor of it so he did not want to make a stand. He was the founder of part of our economy and made an intelligent plan called the financial plan.

This poem is in historical context. It is talking about when everyone was moving to the colonies. This was the roote of our nation. This has many poetic devices and is influenced on other cultural music.
