Review and Analysis of Danielle Steel’s Books

Danielle Steel has been hailed as one of the world’s popular authors, with over 600 million copies of her novels sold. Her many international best sellers include, The Sins of the Mother, friends Forever, Double Jeopardy, Hotel Vendome, Happy Birthday, 44 Charles Street, Legacy, Family Ties, Big Girl, and other highly acclaimed novels. She is also the author of ‘His Bright Light’, the story of her son, Nick Traina’s life and death, and A Gift of Hope, a memoir of her work with the homeless. Chapter Four Introduction Bill and Jenny are the two main character of the first story. Jenny is a daughter of coal miner. She has dedicated her whole life to fashion industry until moving to another city. Bill is a young lawyer in his family’s prestigious family firm. But, he did not have any interest in it. He started to follow his dream and became minister in Church at Wyoming. Lillibet and Robert are the main character of second story. Lillibet belongs to Amish community, which is still living in 18th century.

Robert is a Book publisher and looking for a big book to publish. Chapter Five Until the End of Time One day Jenny was working near plaza, Bill saw her for the first time and fell in love with her. He tried to talk to her. But, it was a short conversation. He saw her again. Then, they started dating each other. When, he expressed his love, Jenny was in love with him too. When Bill introduced her with his family, they behaved very badly. As Jenny told them honestly, that she is daughter of coal miner from Pittston, Pennsylvania and her mother is from France. She is the most famous fashion designer in New York. His family thought that, she is from backward family, so they did not want Bill to marry her. But he wanted her. Also, he did not have any interest in law firm. He went to study theology to become minister and married to Jenny. They were living separately. Bill always told her that, he will love her until the end of time. He also believes that if a lover die, he/she will become star in the sky and wait for his/her love and again appear in another life. He always accompanied her in fashion industry. When he became minister in church at Wyoming, Jenny left her fashion world to join him.

There was a reason. Jenny had an ectopic pregnancy. She did not realize its early symptoms, due to pressure of work. Their life had changed a lot in Wyoming. As they meet new people. Jenny accompanied him too. When she realize that, women are facing abusing, affair relation, problem of alcohol, she started many groups for well-being of society such as AA Al-Anon, special classes for girls about fashion, self-confidence etc. with the help of her friend, Gretchen. A girl in his fashion class, Lucy, was fourteen years old, was pregnant by a clever a boy. Her parents did not want to have the baby and they requested to Bill and Jenny to adopt it. They were going to adopt baby but before few days of it, Bill was killed in an unexpected flood. After four days, Jenny was going to hospital to be with Lucy during delivery. She met with a car accident. It was the hurtful end of the story. Gretchen and Tom (Bill’s elder brother) were sitting after funeral of Jenny at night, they saw two shooting star in the sky together. The second story move around Robert (Bob) and Lillibet (Lilli). It seems that Bill and Jenny meet each other again with same nature. Lilli is living in Amish community, which is still living in 18th century, because they don’t use any technology, even hydro. Bob lives in New York. He is a book publisher. Lilli lost her mother, in a tragedy in school. She was helping her father and young brother in farm and household chores. She wrote a book and she wanted to publish it, but she cannot do it according to rules of Amish community. Bob was looking for a big book. Lilli got his contact through diary, sent her book package diary to manager, Joe. Bob come to diary to meet Lilli. However, her father came to know about it. He forbid her to do that and not meet any Englishman again. But, she was firm to publish her book. Bob also visited to his father to convince him but it did not work.

When Lilli went to New York by breaking rules of community. Both were in love with each other but both of them were not able to express it. When Lilli was returning home, both of them were sad and thinking, when they will meet again? But when she reached her home, her father denied to enter her in his house. She was shunned by father. She again called driver from diary to go back to New York again. The driver was drunk, and on the way to New York they met with an accident. After six days, she was in coma and Bob came to know about it and came to hospital immediately, he was crying beside her and repeating “Come back Lilli, I love you”. Lilli had a dream, in which a couple was riding a horse, and a woman saying her to go back, she assume her as mother, and she requested her that she wants to live with you. But, that woman still saying to go back. When Lilli woke up, she heard come back. She was happy to see Bob. She asked about Lucy’s baby (whose baby Jenny and Bill were going to adopt). But, Bob was confused. Lilli’s father gave permission to them to marry each other. In the end Lilli and Robert staring at Sky at night, saw two shooting star. It was clear that, Bill’s word come true, as Bill and Jenny meet each other in another life, as Bob and Lilli. Conclusion If someone truly love someone, he/she will meet his/her love by any way, in any life. As Bill and Jenny meet in another life again. But in both lives, they had to face restrictions by their families, based on cultural, caste and background.

They had to go out of their way to meet their beloved one. The story strongly gave the message, we should end these restrictions. In addition, we should look for opportunity to help people, as Jenny organized many group in Wyoming for the society, which was facing problems. We should struggle for our dreams. If you really want it, you will get at right time. Jenny and Bill were successful in achieving their goal except the baby. In another life, Lilli and Bob were successful to publish the book. Also, they married to each other and they accomplished the dream of their last life.
