Introduction

Because of the increasing need for people who could save the day, the idea of a hero is becoming growingly essential. Introducing the traditional ideas of a hero as well as a new concept of what makes the one, the speaker raises an important moral issue. Making the components of his speech work in the most effective way, the speaker achieves a stunning success in the eyes of the public.

Speech Analysis

Defining the notion of a hero according to different sources, which makes the difference of opinions, the speaker manages both to introduce the topic and to emphasize its importance, also stating the main premises. Thus, it can be considered that all four parts of the introduction are present in the speech.

Appealing to the audience in the most natural way, the speaker achieves success because of the ease of his speech. Genuine and sincere, it impresses much more than any pompous political maxims. It is also worth noticing that the speaker makes effective use of all parts of speech, mainly because of their “economic” use. It is especially clear with adjectives – the speaker uses them very wisely, with only one or two adjectives where it is necessary, making thus his speech ever more impressive.

The mixture of speech types, namely the memorized and the manuscript ones – the speaker was peeping into his notes, yet he was quite confident in his conversation with the public – creates the impression of a well-thought performance which was aimed at hitting the hearts of the audience.

With help of the specific persuasion choices, the speaker has managed to convey the essence of his speech to the public. Among the former, the following can be indicated. The speaker used eye contact with the audience very wisely, not making it tiresomely constant, yet not losing it.

The clarity of the proposition also took its toll on the quality of the speech. Stating his point clearly and concisely, the speaker managed to gain weight in the audience’s eyes, which made him evermore successful. It was quite peculiar that interpreting the popular ideas of heroism, the speaker also used the famous Superman brand, the blue-and-red colors, the cape, and the “S” sign both to drive people’s attention and to tune them into the on-coming conversation.

To make his performance even more impressive, the speaker used a very mild transition style; as a matter of fact, he switched from one topic to another in quite a soft way, as if floating down the topic like a boat down the river. Although it was evident that the speaker felt somewhat anxious about the performance, he managed to overcome his emotions and present his ideas. With help of his notes which he made good use of when his eloquence ran dry, he created the impression of an extremely good and sincere speaker.

As the speaker came to the concluding remarks, his phrases became even shorter and more concise than at the beginning; because of this trick, the performance looked clear and efficient. With help of a definite ending, the speaker wound up his report so that it left a trace in people’s memories. Also, it is worth noticing that he touched upon the sentimental strings in the hearts of the audience, emphasizing that it was his wife who had sewn the cape (GorgeEIGrande777).

Conclusion

Although there has been no question-answer period, it is doubtless that the speech had a great impact on those present. Not letting the audience get bored, the speaker expressed the most important ideas of his. Thus, it can be concluded that this performance is worth calling a real masterpiece of a public speech.
