My Thoughts About “Men Are from Mars and Women from Venus”

Men are from Mars and Women from Venus is old school but in future, both would call Mars their planet. It has been long discussed how Elon Musk plans to make Mars habitable for us; Earthlings. It is not a secret that Earth’s condition is deteriorating. Our Earth faces many problems like overpopulation, global warming, pollution, non- biodegradable plastics, unavailability of food, water and land, radioactive materials and lot more. It is also estimated that in close future, the Yellowstone volcano can erupt, sea level would rise, and as the temperature increases, Ice age would follow centuries later.

Earth would be majorly uninhabitable for thousands of years during all this. Humans are a thriving species and that is the reason why we’ve made it so far. It is believed that we will be living even after the solar system’s end. But that is possible only if we start settling on places in the cosmos apart from our old mamma Earth. Although, preparations need to start as soon as possible because we don’t know how long it might take to make another planet suitable for living and exactly how long we have on Earth. The plan in to develop a city on the red planet itself. “The idea would be to expand out, start off not just with an outpost, but grow into a larger base, not just like there are in Antarctica, but really a village, a town, growing into a city and then multiple cities on Mars,” Paul Wooster, principal Mars development engineer for SpaceX stated. SpaceX plans on starting small by sending two rockets and their corresponding ships to Mars in 2022 followed by four more by 2024 with first humans ever to ferry to the planet. The six ships are the first steps to permanent Martian cities.

The humans will then need to consider establishing surface power, developing landing pads, habitats, greenhouses, additional life support, and all the other amenities to encourage a functioning settlement. This will definitely become a milestone in space research and science, opening new possibilities and options if successful. Although, many scientists are quite sceptical of the idea, common civilians are on the other hand pretty excited about it. If it is successful, we would also have Mars as a home and not just a pretty, red neighbor.
