Abstract

Leonardo Da Vinci was a pioneer of many things and shaped the way the world is today. Leonardo Da Vinci was born is Anchiano, Italy. He grew up Anchiano, near Vinci, Republic of Florence Italy. His parents was Caterina da Vinci and Caterina da Vinci. His first invention was anemometer. Leonardo Da Vinci died May 2, 1519Leonardo Da Vinci, pioneer, Italy, invention,anemometer, parents Leonardo Da Vinci The Mona Lisa could be argued as one of the most famous and most acknowledged paintings ever and the man that created the famous painting was Leonardo Da Vinci, one of the greatest painters in Europe’s history.

Leonardo da Vinci was a painter, sculptor, architect, inventor, military engineer and draftsman. With a curious mind and keen intellect, Da Vinci studied the laws of science and nature, which greatly impacted his work. Leonardo Da Vinci was a genius and considered the Renaissance man, but most importantly he was ahead of his time. The reasons for this statement is his sketches had many futuristic drawings aspects is his engineering and inventions, and his paintings In Da Vinci’s early life, he flourished as a prodigy . As stated by, “(Leonardo Da Vinci, The Complete Works, 2017).’’

In 1466, at the age of fourteen, Leonardo was apprenticed to one of the most successful artists of his day, Andrea di Cione, known as Verrocchio. Verrocchio’s workshop was at the centre of the intellectual currents of Florence, assuring the young Leonardo of an education in the humanities.’’ Da Vinci prospered under the wing of Verrocchio that and eventually he passed him in the skill of art. Verrocchio was so embarrassed that he stopped painting, he swore never to paint again.In Leonardo Da Vinci professional life he was considered to be one of the greatest minds in history. He was considered the Renaissance man, the reason for this is because he was the leader of the bridge between cultural history and modern history. He strayed away from the conventional thinkings and methodology of that era. Everything he did from paintings to inventions strayed from the path and was considered a thinker and an innovator of that time.It was as a painter the Leonardo Da Vinci was so renowned and so famous.

His famous paintings; “The Last Supper and Mona Lisa” was revolutionary for that era and still to this day. The Last Supper was the first created piece of revolutionary artwork. The subject of the Last Supper is Christ’s final meal with his apostles before Judas identifies Christ to the authorities who arrest him. The Last Supper (a Passover Seder), is remembered for two events. (Khan Academy, 2017). The Last Supper was revolutionary in the sense of the meaning behind the artwork, but the actual artwork(piece) was generic. It was painted with the same paint as the paintings in that era and the canvas was the same.The other revolutionary painting was the Mona Lisa. Unlike,’’The Last Supper’’ had very different canvas and the paint was different. This painting was very different from traditional paintings it strayed from the path of the paintings in that era.

According to (Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, 2012), the way Leonardo painted this portrait deviated from the traditional way women were painted like this in Italy. Mona Lisa looks directly out at us, the viewers, which was something unconventional for a woman in a portrait to do at this time. The Mona Lisa was a turning point in the Renaissance because after the painting was made the other artist used Da Vinci methodology and thinking in the sense of the canvas and the item that they were painting. According to (Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, 2012) it states,’’ Leonardo makes use of his sfumato technique to show how the light bounces off her skin in certain places while leaving other parts in darker shadows. Her skin appears to be soft and smooth, and she looks quite like a real, though perhaps somewhat idealized, woman would look like right in front of us.’’

This quote shows that Leonardo Da Vinci was very different and innovative he painted different from the other artist and used a different techniques.Leonardo Da Vinci has been described as The Renaissance Man,’’ a man who seemingly has an infinite curiosity. His curiosity also fell into the category of engineering and building. In being a superb artist he is also a remarkable engineer, and thinker. He created the aerial screw. The aerial screw is the equivalent to the modern day helicopter. According to (History Lists.org, 2017) ,This is another da Vinci’s invention that resembles more to the technology of the 20th and 21st centuries rather than that used during the Renaissance. Indeed, his aerial screw looks strikingly similar to the modern helicopters. And according to Leonardo, it could fly.’’He was also an innovator. He made sketches of a parachute which was later innovated by Faust Vrancic. According to (The European Library, 2013),’’

The most interesting of his inventions is undoubtedly a drawing of a parachutist, the so-called Homo volans or flying man. Although Leonardo da Vinci was the first to draw and describe a parachutist, Vrancic was the first to publicly announce his invention. In fact, Vrancic himself made and designed the parachute and then proceeded to jump off cliffs and church steeples in Hungary and Italy, testing his creation.’’ This quote shows that Leonardo Da Vinci inspired other inventions to innovate his sketches. He created new inventions for the new world. He wanted to create better conditions for people as well as for animals. He applied his drawings and perspective skills to a career in engineering.

The best thing about Leonardo Da Vinci is that he can’t just fall into one box of something you can’t just classify him into one category he was a all-around person. another example of this is his contribution to science. Da Vinci bridged the gap between medieval science to modern science. He studied anatomy and studied how the body works. Even though he is seen as an artist he, contributed to many other fields. His knowledge for art goes far beyond art. His curiosity and his desire to solve something and be curious about the world. His hunger for information drove him to achieve the things he did and left the engraving he did on the world and left an engraving on the world. His works of art and his interest for life systems and different fields of science was a long ways past his opportunity. His portrayals and creations spearheaded numerous advanced innovations that were soon to end up plainly the helicopter and parachute. His examinations have had a solid effect on the world today.
